A Trane Commercial Case Study
Saks Fifth Avenue, the iconic New York City retailer, needed a fast HVAC solution when one of its chillers failed less than a month before Fashion Week. Facing extreme summer heat, Hurricane Irene, and the risk that its remaining chillers could not handle the load, Saks turned to Trane Commercial and its rental services for help.
Trane Commercial quickly proposed and installed a rental chiller, designing a custom steel support structure to place the unit on the building’s eighth-floor setback without damaging the historic façade. The temporary system kept the store comfortable, met summer load requirements, and helped Saks avoid disruption during Fashion Week while Trane also coordinated the failed chiller’s motor change-out so the store could return to normal operations on time and on budget.
