A Trane Commercial Case Study
Renton School District partnered with Trane Commercial to address the rising cost and maintenance burden of aging systems at Dimmitt Middle School. The fifty-year-old equipment, along with outdated single-pane windows, was driving energy waste, creating occupant discomfort, and making it harder for the district to maintain a safe, high-quality learning environment.
Using an Energy Savings Performance Contracting (ESPC) project and an investment grade audit, Trane Commercial replaced steam boilers with high-efficiency modular boilers, added variable frequency drives and differential pressure controls for pumping systems, and upgraded 500 windows to improve the building envelope. The project reduced natural gas consumption by 42 percent, lowered electricity use, and cut maintenance costs, delivering about $20,000 in annual energy savings and $10,000 in avoided maintenance costs for Renton School District.
