A Trane Commercial Case Study
Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC), a growing higher education institution in Oklahoma City, faced an aging facility that no longer met the needs of its expanding student body. The college wanted to increase square footage, improve operational efficiency, reduce energy use, and enhance student and faculty comfort. Trane Commercial provided HVAC systems and controls to help address these challenges.
Working with its architect, OCCC and Trane Commercial implemented a strategic campus-wide upgrade that included chilled water plant improvements, a high-efficiency centrifugal chiller, two-way valve primary-secondary chilled water systems, VAV air handlers with direct digital controls, an enhanced thermal ice storage system, and a Trane Tracer Summit building automation system. The results were significant: campus square footage increased by 30%, energy use per square foot dropped by nearly 35%, and learning conditions improved, making the school more efficient and environmentally focused.
