Norton Healthcare - Customer Case Study

Norton Healthcare, a large not-for-profit healthcare system in Louisville, Kentucky, needed to address aging equipment, rising energy and maintenance costs, and the need to improve energy efficiency, indoor air quality, and patient comfort across its 24/7 facilities. Working with Trane Commercial, the organization began with an energy assessment to identify opportunities for savings and operational improvements.

Trane Commercial implemented a four-year, multiphase initiative spanning nine facilities and about 2.8 million square feet, including chiller plant modernization, thermal storage, HVAC and lighting upgrades, building automation improvements, and envelope enhancements. The solution also added Trane chillers, Tracer Ensemble building management, and intelligent energy services to optimize performance and shift cooling demand to off-peak hours, helping Norton Healthcare reduce energy use, demand costs, maintenance needs, and carbon footprint while improving reliability and comfort.
