New York City Center - Customer Case Study

New York City Center worked with Trane Commercial on a major renovation of its historic New York theater to improve audience and performer comfort while reducing energy use. The venue needed better HVAC performance, tighter control over temperature and humidity, improved air quality, and a solution that could be installed around an already booked performance schedule.

Trane Commercial helped implement a staged HVAC and controls upgrade that included a new 100-ton chiller, optimization of two existing Trane CenTraVac chillers, added temperature, humidity, and CO2 sensors, variable frequency drives, and an upgraded Trane Tracer Summit building automation system with Chiller Plant Manager. The result was a more comfortable theater with almost zero complaints, estimated annual energy savings of 6,489 million BTUs, and support for a Silver LEED rating.
