Merrick & Company, an employee-owned engineering and design firm, needed to redesign its new headquarters as its lease ended while also meeting goals for energy efficiency, LEED Silver certification, and a utility rebate. Merrick chose Trane Commercial as the basis of design for the project, working with the engineering and construction team to plan upgrades that would improve comfort and sustainability.

Trane Commercial delivered a custom HVAC solution that included retrofitted VAV systems, Tracer controls, VFDs, ECM fan-powered boxes, sensors, and a building automation system to optimize airflow, comfort, and energy use. The result was a comfortable, high-efficiency building that helped Merrick & Company earn $37,000 in Xcel Energy rebates and support its LEED CI Silver goals, with minimum outside air levels exceeding LEED requirements.
