Marine Gateway - Customer Case Study

Marine Gateway, a large mixed-use development in Vancouver, BC, needed a more efficient way to meet simultaneous heating and cooling demands across its residential, retail, and office spaces while reducing carbon emissions and aligning with the city’s renewable energy goals. Trane Commercial was involved through its district energy center and heat recovery expertise, helping support the design and equipment selection for a low-carbon energy system.

Trane Commercial helped implement a geoexchange-based district energy plant with dedicated heat recovery chillers, Optimus water-cooled chillers, condensing boilers, and plate-and-frame heat exchangers. The system now delivers renewable heating and cooling more efficiently, lowers input energy and gas consumption, and supports comfort for tenants and residents; the project exceeded its target of 70% renewable energy use and helped Marine Gateway achieve LEED Gold certification.
