Larimer County - Customer Case Study

Larimer County, which operates the Larimer County Courthouse Offices in Fort Collins, Colorado, needed a way to keep evening community meeting rooms comfortable without running its full HVAC system after hours. The building’s existing Trane IntelliPak rooftop units had to stay in occupied mode at night, creating unnecessary energy use and higher utility costs.

Trane Commercial worked with the county and its engineering consultant to install a new energy-efficient Trane 15-ton rooftop unit and VAV terminal controls for the first-floor conference rooms, while integrating the system with the county’s Tracer Summit building automation system. The solution reduced installation complexity and preserved building aesthetics, and it now cuts energy use by more than 119,000 kWh per year, saving nearly $15,000 annually in electricity costs.
