Lakeview Hospital - Customer Case Study

Lakeview Hospital, part of the HCA-Mountainstar Healthcare Network in Bountiful, Utah, faced comfort and HVAC control problems, along with the highest energy costs per square foot in its network. By 2008, aging pneumatic controls and failing chillers were no longer delivering the temperature control needed for patient comfort and operating room requirements. Trane Commercial was brought in to help improve system performance with new VAV terminals, controls, and chiller plant equipment.

Trane Commercial installed new Trane VAV terminals, Tracer Summit™ controls, variable frequency drives, a Series R™ chiller, and a new cooling tower to modernize the hospital’s HVAC and chiller plant systems. The upgrades were completed on time, improving comfort for patients and staff while reducing energy and maintenance costs. Lakeview Hospital reported energy savings of about 10% right away, with further gains expected as more VFDs are added.
