HSBC - Customer Case Study

HSBC Tower in Prince George, BC, managed by Majestic Management, needed a major HVAC upgrade as its original equipment was nearing 40 years old, costly to maintain, and unable to provide simultaneous heating and cooling for tenant comfort. Trane Commercial was brought in to help modernize the building’s zoning and ventilation while minimizing disruption in the fully occupied office tower.

Trane Commercial delivered a turnkey design/build solution that replaced aging air handling units, chillers, boilers, and controls, and added a dedicated heat recovery chiller, a water-cooled screw chiller, new air handlers, free cooling, VFDs, and low-temperature condensing boilers. The project improved comfort by creating separate perimeter zones and cut energy use by more than 50%, saving over $100,000 annually in electricity and about $50,000 in gas, while also earning $100,000 in energy incentives and $100,000 in tax incentives.
