Hardin Medical Center - Customer Case Study

Hardin Medical Center in Savannah, Tennessee, worked with Trane Commercial to address aging, outdated HVAC and building systems that were delivering inadequate cooling and humidity control. The hospital wanted to improve the environment of care—especially in its labor and delivery area—while also reducing the risk of medical errors and infection and lowering rising energy and operational costs. Trane Commercial used its Trane Intelligent Services, including an Energy Assessment and environment of care study, to evaluate the facility’s needs.

Trane Commercial implemented a performance contracting solution that included a new HVAC system for labor and delivery, a boiler plant replacement, a chilled water air handling unit, lighting and plumbing upgrades, and expanded Tracer controls for better building management. The project improved temperature and humidity control, enhanced indoor air quality and comfort, and helped HMC better manage energy use across the facility. As a result, Hardin Medical Center reduced annual energy and operational costs by more than 30 percent and received an $11,500 TVA rebate, all without upfront capital through a Trane PACT performance contract.
