A Trane Commercial Case Study
Georgia World Congress Center Authority (GWCCA) in Atlanta needed to modernize its aging HVAC and lighting systems, improve reliability and safety, and boost efficiency across a 3.9 million sq. ft. convention complex while preserving its LEED leadership. Trane Commercial was selected as the upgrade partner through Georgia’s Energy Savings Performance Contracting program, bringing together an energy audit and design-build approach to target major operational and sustainability improvements.
Trane Commercial centralized four mechanical plants into one high-efficiency central plant, installed new Trane CenTraVac centrifugal chillers, condensing boilers, LED lighting, and a Trane Tracer SC building automation system, while also adding monitoring and analytics services. The project reduced energy use by more than 39%, saved over $2.5 million annually, cut water use by 17 million gallons per year, recycled 289 tons of waste, generated $876,141 in annual operational cost savings, and helped GWCCA achieve LEED Gold certification.
