Four Seasons Resort - Customer Case Study

Four Seasons Resort Maui, a 380-room luxury hotel in Wailea, Hawaii, needed to replace aging, unreliable mechanical equipment while maintaining guest comfort and reducing very high utility costs. Trane Commercial was brought in as an established service and maintenance partner to help upgrade the resort’s chiller and heating systems with minimal disruption during construction.

Trane Commercial implemented a three-phase design-build upgrade featuring three Trane CenTraVac water-cooled centrifugal chillers, modular heat pumps, a new domestic hot water system, variable frequency drives, and Tracer Summit building automation controls. The new system improved reliability and efficiency, helping the resort cut annual kWh consumption by 20 percent, or 2.4 million kWh, and reduce maximum demand by 20 percent, or 400 kW.
