Decatur County Community Schools - Customer Case Study

Decatur County Community Schools, a district serving about 2,195 students in Greensburg, Indiana, faced inefficient, costly, and hard-to-manage HVAC systems across four school locations. Working with Trane Commercial, the district needed a solution to improve comfort, support the learning environment, and reduce energy use and operating expenses.

Trane Commercial replaced the aging equipment with high-efficiency Trane chillers, UniTrane fan-coil units, and a web-based Tracer SC building automation system to give the facilities team remote control and better scheduling across all buildings. The upgrades saved nearly $600,000 per year, cut carbon emissions by more than 3,200 metric tons annually, and helped the district earn recognition from the EPA and DOE as one of the nation’s most efficient school districts.
