CoreSite, a leading carrier-neutral data center and interconnection services provider, needed to design its new Santa Clara data center to an even higher standard of energy efficiency and environmental responsibility without sacrificing reliability, flexibility, scalability, or security. To meet this challenge, CoreSite worked with Trane Commercial on a custom cooling approach that combined evaporative cooling with the Trane IntelliPak™ Rooftop System and advanced controls.

Trane Commercial implemented a tailored cooling process that used evaporative cooling to reduce mechanical load and help manage humidity, while rainwater reuse lowered water consumption. The IntelliPak™ system with Rapid Restart™ was designed for reliable recovery after power loss and fast return to full cooling. The result was an innovative system projected to deliver an average annual PUE of 1.26, improve WUE, support LEED Gold certification goals, and provide a reliable, efficient, and scalable data center environment.
