City of Vestavia Hills - Customer Case Study

The City of Vestavia Hills, Alabama, needed to upgrade outdated lighting across its outdoor sports facilities, including baseball and soccer fields, a pool, and tennis courts. With some fixtures nearly 30 years old and no capital funds available, the city wanted better safety, lower operating and energy costs, and improved visibility to attract more tournaments. Trane Commercial helped address this challenge with a performance agreement and sports lighting upgrade.

Trane Commercial worked with Musco Lighting to deliver a citywide replacement using advanced sports lighting and automated controls, financed through a Trane PACT performance contract. The project required no upfront capital and was structured for positive cash flow within one year. Results included nearly a 50% reduction in energy use, cutting fixture count from 1,400 to a little over 700, and potential maintenance savings of up to $5,000 per month, while also improving safety and tournament appeal.
