A Trane Commercial Case Study
The City of Monroe worked with Trane Commercial to address aging and obsolete equipment at the Monroe Wastewater Treatment Plant in Washington. The city needed to replace failing components, regain lost capacity, reduce energy and maintenance costs, and extend the life and reliability of the plant.
Using Washington’s Energy Savings Performance Contracting (ESPC) program, Trane Commercial led a project that included an investment-grade audit, equipment upgrades, process improvements, and controls integration. The work increased treatment capacity, improved efficiency and system life, and is on track to save 86,652 kWh annually, cut energy costs by $6,074 a year, reduce operations and maintenance costs by $8,000 annually, and avoid more than $5.2 million in planned capital replacement costs over the next ten years.
