A Trane Commercial Case Study
The City of Lynnwood Wastewater Treatment Plant worked with Trane Commercial to replace aging equipment at or near end of life, reduce rising energy and maintenance costs, and improve the reliability and efficiency of its wastewater treatment processes. Using the State of Washington Energy Savings Performance Contracting (ESPC) program, the city sought support for prioritizing capital improvements and maximizing utility incentives.
Trane Commercial completed an Investment Grade Audit and delivered an upgrade focused on the plant’s aeration system, including new fine bubble diffusers, automated blower controls, new valves and instrumentation, dissolved oxygen sensors, flow meters, and easier-access clarifier covers. The project is expected to save 206,482 kWh annually, reduce utility costs by $16,679 per year, qualify for about $55,000 in SnoPUD incentives, and cut maintenance and operational costs by an estimated $5,000 annually, while also avoiding future capital replacement expenses.
