A Trane Commercial Case Study
The City of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, needed to renew its electricity supply contracts for 167 accounts spread across street lighting and municipal buildings. With one contract expiring and another nearing renewal, the city wanted more competitive pricing and a way to capture savings from its recent LED lighting retrofit. Trane Commercial, through its Energy Supply Services and Energy Choice services, was brought in to help address the challenge.
Trane Commercial reviewed the city’s existing contracts, sourced competitive bids from pre-qualified suppliers, and negotiated pricing and terms through a pair of RFPs. The result was a 23.6% reduction in electricity supply costs, saving the city more than $129,000 annually, while also providing price certainty, allowing demand-reduction projects without penalty, and creating a new source of income by selling unused electricity back to the market.
