Building Owners replace a penthouse unit in 12 weeks with Trane Commercial

The building owners of a 100,000 sq ft Class B office building faced a challenge with their original 1985 penthouse HVAC unit, which had become unreliable and ineffective at providing tenant comfort. Concerned about complaints and potential lost revenue, they worked with their contractor, Encon Mechanical, and the vendor Trane Commercial to find a solution involving a custom Performance Climate Changer® Air Handler.

Trane designed and built a completely custom replacement penthouse unit in an accelerated 12-week timeframe. The solution, which included a custom DX evaporative cooled air handler, was installed over a single weekend with minimal disruption. The new Trane system improved reliability, enhanced tenant comfort, reduced maintenance needs, and increased tenant retention for the building owners.
