Baylor Scott & White Health - Customer Case Study

Baylor Scott & White Health worked with Trane Commercial as it planned a new medical center in College Station, Texas, seeking a more energy-efficient alternative to boiler heating while also improving surgeon-preferred cooling and humidity control, patient comfort, safety, and airborne contaminant management. The hospital wanted to reduce high natural gas and makeup water costs and create a high-performance environment for its operating rooms.

Trane Commercial implemented a unique HVAC design centered on Trane heat recovery chillers, Performance Climate Changer air handlers with Cool Dry Quiet desiccant dehumidification, Trane Catalytic Air Cleaning System air purification, and Tracer ES building management. The solution used 115°F water from heat recovery chillers instead of traditional boiler heat, turning boilers off 80% of the time and reducing natural gas usage by 80%, while also lowering electrical and cooling tower water consumption and improving indoor air quality for a cooler, drier, healthier patient experience.
