A Trane Commercial Case Study
Alamo Colleges District, a Texas community college system, was looking for a more permanent way to cut energy use after completing smaller efficiency upgrades. To help meet its goals within tight budget constraints, **Trane Commercial** proposed a design-build, turnkey thermal energy storage (TES) solution for the district’s Northwest Vista campus, using low-interest public funding and cooperative procurement to move the project forward on time.
**Trane Commercial** installed a 0.9-million-gallon chilled water TES tank tied to three existing 800-ton Trane CenTraVac chillers, along with variable frequency drives and other system improvements to reduce demand and shift cooling to off-peak hours. The project delivered significant energy savings, helped the district reduce utility costs, and generated **$150,000 in annual demand response rebates** across three campuses, while also completing the work **on time and under budget**.
