Mediware, a growing medical software company headquartered in Lenexa, Kansas, needed a reliable way to run timely performance appraisals, give employees the feedback they wanted, and align individual work with company targets. HR leadership found some managers struggled to create SMART goals and deliver difficult feedback, so the challenge was to standardize the performance process and embed goal-setting across the organization.
Mediware adopted Trakstar and built a structured cycle of email communications, training, a one-page “Target Chart” for company goals, and manager accountability for goal-setting. Self-appraisals fostered open conversations, some bonuses were tied to goal results, and the average goal score reached 4.24/5.
