A Trakstar Hire Case Study

Simprints - Customer Case Study

Simprints is a Cambridge-based nonprofit that builds low-cost, rugged fingerprint scanners and open-source ID software to tackle the global “identification bottleneck” affecting 1.5 billion people without formal ID. The organization faces the dual challenge of solving a difficult biometrics problem for harsh frontline contexts while recruiting and retaining top tech talent on a shoestring budget against major tech employers.

Simprints prototyped and field-tested its scanners in Bangladesh, used that data to win a Gates Foundation “Saving Lives at Birth” grant, and persuaded NGOs, governments and corporates to partner and scale the work. By hiring mission-driven staff—bringing everyone to field sites to reinforce impact—and delivering accessible hardware and software, Simprints has deployed ID solutions, secured institutional support, and advanced toward making identification tools widely available.
