Quality Ironworks is a Dallas-based steel fabrication company (51–200 employees) that designs and installs stairs, rails, fences, gates and other steel structures. As a faith-based organization guided by six core values, leadership made culture central to hiring, but an aggressive growth push in 2016 that doubled headcount exposed challenges: high industry turnover, inconsistent onboarding, hiring mistakes, and some managers not living the company values.
To address this they began screening for values in applications and interviews, slowed hiring to prioritize quality over quantity, moved to more personal onboarding check-ins, and implemented manufacturing software to forecast hires three months ahead. Those changes helped them hire better culture-fit talent (notably a successful Materials Manager), identify and correct managerial misalignment, stabilize rapid growth, and make measurable progress toward consistently living their core values.
