A Tradeshift Case Study
Archer Daniels Midland (ADM), a global food and grain processor headquartered in Chicago, centralized accounts payable for 250 U.S. and Canadian sites in a single North American shared services center in 2013. The new center was quickly overwhelmed by paper invoices—about 3,000 a day—requiring extensive manual entry, eight staff handling exceptions, 6,600 annual exception notices, and a customer service team fielding roughly 24,000 calls and 58,000 emails.
ADM selected Tradeshift’s cloud-based e-invoicing platform to streamline supplier submissions, enable real-time invoice visibility and communication, and support multilingual help. Within a year ADM saw a 24% lift in discount capture for electronic invoices, a 30% increase in on-time payments, and invoice processing time cut by nearly 22 days, while supplier collaboration and timely payments improved through faster, threaded communications.
