A Tradeshift Case Study
Linde Gas, a global industrial gases company, set out to increase savings and shorten sourcing cycle times by rolling out e‑auctions company-wide. Sourcing maturity varied across regions and the decentralized organization needed a way to embed best practices and standardize competitive sourcing wherever supplier‑independent specifications were possible.
Linde implemented a center‑led change program with nine regional knowledge centers and adopted IBX (now Tradeshift) as the global e‑auction tool. The intuitive platform was rapidly embraced, enabling spot buys and strategic events across categories (transportation, maintenance, facility services, etc.). Results included growth from 80 auctions in 2013 to over 500 in 2014, average user activity of more than one auction per month, examples of 30% savings on a €2M lot, and overall savings and cycle‑time improvements measured at roughly 100% better than traditional negotiations.
