Global Transportation and Logistics Leader On Path To 100% Automatic Invoice Processing

A large Europe-based global transportation and logistics leader faced a massive procure-to-pay challenge: roughly eight million paper, fax and PDF invoices annually from some 160,000 suppliers across 900 offices. The company needed a way to convert invoices to 100% electronic form, onboard suppliers at global scale, validate documents dynamically, centralize invoice handling and offer early-payment options without forcing suppliers onto multiple platforms.

They implemented Tradeshift Pay with Citibank-enabled supply chain finance, giving suppliers free, intuitive access on a standards-based platform (EDIFACT, UBL, PEPPOL, etc.), consolidating all invoice channels, and enabling supplier self-service tracking and in-platform inquiry. Results include supplier adoption roughly 5x faster than the industry reaching ~9,389 suppliers by year four, processing about 180,000 invoices per month, significantly reduced processing costs, improved visibility and working capital, faster supplier payments, stronger controls, and continued geographic expansion.
