5 Ways Hapag-Lloyd Boosted Business Efficiency With Tradeshift

Hapag-Lloyd, one of the world’s largest container shipping lines, needed to adopt Tradeshift after a key buyer, DHL Express (France), mandated the e-invoicing platform. The move had to be fast and seamless to preserve a strong commercial relationship; previously, credit and debit notes were often handled manually because DHL’s former provider lacked full automation, creating extra work for both parties.

Using SFTP and close support from Tradeshift, Hapag-Lloyd completed the rollout in about three months and migrated 100% of invoices to the platform. The change delivered five concrete benefits—real-time invoice visibility, fewer status calls, faster potential payments, automated legal/EDI archiving, and elimination of per-invoice fees—while maintaining the company’s relationship with DHL and earning positive feedback on the new process.
