A Tractivity Case Study
Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) Distribution, an operator of critical national infrastructure, faced a challenge in proactively communicating with its extensive network of over 2,500 stakeholders spread across two UK regions during severe weather events. Their existing processes were reactive, difficult to target geographically, and lacked a system to coordinate and log communications. To address this, SSEN partnered with vendor Tractivity and leveraged its integration with Mapolitical to build a geo-targeted, automated stakeholder engagement process.
The solution implemented by Tractivity involved mapping stakeholders to precise regional boundaries using GIS data and creating a six-step automated workflow. This allowed SSEN to send timely, targeted communications before, during, and after storms and log all interactions. The results included a structured, scalable approach to crisis communications, the ability to track stakeholder sentiment in real time, and the creation of a comprehensive evidence base for regulatory reporting and continuous improvement, consolidating all stakeholder data and interactions into one central system.
