Automatic Prescriptive Insights at AmstedMaxion

AmstedMaxion, a major manufacturer of steel wheels and railway castings, faced the challenge of unpredictable machine downtime. This recurring issue made it impossible to anticipate equipment failures, leading to sudden breakdowns that disrupted production. Maintenance Supervisor Tiago Junqueira sought a solution to better understand asset data and prevent these unexpected stoppages.

To address this, they implemented Tractian's predictive maintenance platform, which used wireless sensors to continuously monitor machine vibrations. This solution provided automatic, prescriptive insights that flagged issues like unbalance in critical assets. The data allowed AmstedMaxion to move from reactive to scheduled preventive maintenance, resulting in a 65% reduction in vibration on one axis and a 50% reduction on another. Tractian's technology significantly improved MTTR and MTBF metrics, drastically reduced unplanned downtime, and increased overall equipment reliability and availability.
