SmartThings - Customer Case Study

SmartThings, a home automation and IoT platform acquired by Samsung, needed a better way to monitor and debug the client-side JavaScript powering its Strongman application, where third-party partners configure devices and automation workflows. Because partner errors were inevitable and difficult to isolate, the team needed clearer visibility into whether issues came from SmartThings or from vendor code, and a faster way to help developers troubleshoot.

SmartThings integrated TrackJS and its API to add custom observability into Strongman and the wider user experience. With TrackJS, the team could quickly identify error spikes, distinguish partner outages from platform issues, and route accurate information to the right developers. The result was a more robust platform, better partner relationships, improved UI workflow and documentation, and savings of thousands of hours of developer time.
