Senior Association Uses Track It Forward to Track Volunteer Socialization with Seniors

Smile on Seniors, a Phoenix-based nonprofit that runs social and recreational programs for older adults, was forced to move programs online and rely on friendly phone calls when COVID-19 shut down in-person events. Executive Director Levi Levertov organized 55 volunteers to call roughly 600 seniors but needed a simple way to track who completed their weekly check‑ins, so Smile on Seniors adopted Track it Forward, a volunteer time‑tracking platform, to capture those phone-call activities.

Track it Forward was configured so volunteers log a customizable “hour” to indicate they completed their assigned calls (selecting the week and number of calls), and Levi uses downloadable reports and Excel exports to see who met commitments and follow up as needed. The system eliminated email clutter, saved administrative time, enabled quick weekly checks across 55 volunteers and 600 seniors, and let Levi focus on expanding virtual events—benefits he plans to keep using post-pandemic.
