Law School Tracks Public Interest Program Service Hours with Milestones

Faulkner University’s Jones School of Law, a private ABA-accredited law school in Montgomery, Alabama, needed a better way to track service hours across a wide range of student programs. Using paper timesheets made it difficult for staff to review submissions, approve hours, and keep up with cumulative totals for initiatives like Public Interest, Pro Bono Service, Community Service, Law Review, Field Placements, and more. Track it Forward time tracking software offered a way to replace the manual process and support both volunteer and course-credit requirements.

With Track it Forward, Jones School of Law implemented custom hours logs, multiple approver roles, and milestones to manage different hour requirements by program. The solution gave administrators a simple way to monitor progress without spreadsheets, while students could see their own progress bars and stay motivated to reach goals like 30-hour awards, 50-hour Public Interest Society recognition, and 60-hour field placement credit. According to the school, Track it Forward made the process significantly easier, improved participation, and streamlined tracking across five different programs.
