How a Repertory Theatre Adopted a New Process to Streamline Volunteer Tracking

San Luis Obispo Repertory Theatre, led by Volunteer Director Lacey McNamara, needed a better way to track volunteer hours to reward volunteers with passes and satisfy grant reporting requirements. Their volunteers—retirees, students meeting graduation requirements, and local seniors—required shift scheduling and accurate hour logs, but Lacey was spending about a half hour per day (2–3 hours per week) manually entering hours, coordinating shifts, and juggling multiple platforms.

The theatre adopted Track It Forward’s volunteer tracking platform to centralize sign-ups, enable online shift registration, automate notifications, and bulk-log hours. Track It Forward dramatically reduced administrative time—Lacey now checks the site about once a week for an hour instead of daily—made it easier for volunteers to sign up and track time, simplified grant reporting, and supports over 100 active volunteers as the theatre expands.
