Schneider Electric publishes 70,000 CAD parts with TraceParts

Schneider Electric, a worldwide specialist in energy management, faced a challenge as increasing customer requests for 3D CAD files became too complex to manage due to the huge number of formats and constant software updates. To improve customer service, they partnered with vendor TraceParts to provide an online CAD library for their components.

The solution implemented by TraceParts involved generating simplified 3D models from Schneider Electric's 2D drawings and component data. This allowed customers to download CAD files in their preferred format. The results were highly successful, with over 30,000 models downloaded in 2008. The partnership provided a significant competitive advantage and served as a fantastic sales tool, leading Schneider Electric to expand the project from 11,000 to nearly 70,000 product references available through TraceParts.
