A TraceParts Case Study
igus, a global manufacturer of plastic components and systems, needed a way to make tens of thousands of products available to designers worldwide in usable CAD formats, while also supporting customer-specific configurations. Working with TraceParts and KiM, the company sought a more efficient replacement for its earlier static DXF-based approach and needed both online and offline access to 3D product data.
TraceParts, using KiM’s CADClick technology, helped publish igus product models on TraceParts.com and on a TraceParts DVD, while also enabling configurable solutions directly from the igus website. The result was a reliable 24/7 service that lets users generate and download tailored 3D models immediately, saving igus days of effort per request and driving a huge number of 3D model downloads. igus reported that the solution has been positively received for years and that the cooperation with TraceParts runs smoothly.
