DigitalOcean Partners with Traceable to help Advance Fraud Detection

DigitalOcean, a leading cloud services provider for developers and startups, faced sophisticated fraud and resource‑abuse campaigns that exploited its free credits and self‑service account creation. The security team lacked security‑focused API telemetry and visibility into internal (East‑West) APIs, making it hard to detect chained attacks and behavioral patterns. To address this gap, DigitalOcean partnered with Traceable AI and deployed Traceable AI’s API security platform.

Traceable AI was deployed out‑of‑band to discover every API endpoint and build a queryable API transaction data lake, enabling ML‑driven behavioral analysis and fraud‑ring detection across both North‑South and East‑West traffic. Using Traceable AI’s platform and graph ML techniques, the teams identified 16 high‑confidence fraud rings and 1,000+ active fraudulent accounts in one week, allowing DigitalOcean to offboard abusive accounts, block related infrastructure, and gain real‑time visibility to improve investigations and response.
