A TP-Link Case Study
Kroton, a Wireless Internet Service Provider in Peru, needed to deliver reliable internet in Villa María del Triunfo and other hard-to-serve areas where terrain, limited infrastructure, and heavy wireless interference made connectivity difficult. Large-scale wired ISPs could not reach many of these locations, so Kroton relied on wireless service for its 150 subscribers. TP-Link stepped in with its Pharos series outdoor wireless solution to support the WISP’s challenging coverage needs.
TP-Link implemented Pharos CPE510 devices for point-to-multipoint coverage, along with MAXtream TDMA technology and Pharos Control centralized management software to improve performance and simplify network operations. The result was a stable, cost-effective wireless network that could serve customers up to 3.2 km from the base station, with each subscriber receiving 1 Mbps bandwidth. Kroton reported that the network has performed well since February 2015, even with received power as low as -85 dBm, greatly exceeding expectations.
