A Magnificent Mile Makeover Shopping Complex Completes Renovation with Digital Displays

900 North Michigan Shops, a luxury retail complex on Chicago's Magnificent Mile, faced the challenge of extremely outdated and inefficient physical directories. These 1980s-era slat sign directories were difficult to read, required manual updates, and did not reflect the property's luxury brand, creating a poor experience for its clientele. The property partnered with vendor TouchSource to install modern digital displays as part of a major renovation.

TouchSource implemented a solution of 28 stacked monitors across 14 stations to create digital directories. This provided dynamic maps, retailer listings, and promotional slideshows. The results significantly improved operational efficiency, saving hours of manual labor previously spent updating store names. The modern solution also enhanced the visitor experience by making information easily accessible, aligning with the property's luxury standards and reducing the need for guests to seek concierge assistance for basic directions.
