Using Touchplan to Implement Stronger Lean Construction Practices

IPS-Integrated Project Services, LLC, a global life‑sciences consulting and construction management firm, was tasked with converting a ~170,000‑SF warehouse into a $215M biopharma CMO facility for Abzena on an accelerated, phased schedule with turnovers as early as August 2022. To strengthen lean construction practices, gain granular schedule detail, and secure trade‑partner buy‑in and visibility for three‑week look‑aheads, IPS selected Touchplan as its digital Last Planner and collaboration tool.

Touchplan was implemented using area‑based "Touchplan Areas," daily tickets and pull‑planning workflows so superintendents and trades could coordinate look‑aheads, surface safety concerns (for example, a planned crane lift), and onboard specialty trades more efficiently. As a result, Touchplan helped IPS significantly reduce risk through proactive planning, streamline rolling trade onboarding, enable remote digital coordination during the pandemic, and keep the project on track to meet its accelerated, phased deliveries.
