How CDI’s Lean Champions Delivered the I³R Center

The University of Arkansas partnered with Touchplan to support construction of the I³R Center, one of CDI Contractors’ most complex projects. The team faced utility relocation, tunneling, prefabrication, and careful coordination near sensitive research facilities with vibration-sensitive equipment, making traditional pull boards and spreadsheets inadequate.

Touchplan provided a digital Lean planning platform that replaced manual boards, improved collaboration, and helped coordinate weekly look-ahead and commitment planning across trades. With Touchplan, CDI improved prefab flow, reduced missed handoffs, and delivered the I³R Center on time, while also strengthening its Lean culture for future projects.
