Case Study: The Boldt Company achieves uninterrupted, on-schedule hospital expansions with Touchplan

A Touchplan Case Study

Preview of the The Boldt Company Case Study

How Boldt successfully plans for the complexity of hospital expansions while maintaining day-to-day operations

The Boldt Company faced the challenge of delivering a multi-million-dollar emergency department and trauma center expansion at Children’s Wisconsin while keeping the hospital fully operational and avoiding schedule delays that could impact patients and staff. Having used Touchplan’s patented construction planning platform on prior hospital work (including UCSF’s Zuckerberg San Francisco General project), Boldt moved away from spreadsheets and sticky notes and selected Touchplan as its primary digital planning tool for the complex, multi-phase project.

Touchplan’s platform centralized daily and look-ahead planning, gave field teams ownership of tasks, and made it easy for multiple project managers to coordinate milestones and keep the Owner informed. Using six- to seven-week look-ahead planning in Touchplan helped Boldt identify potential operational conflicts early, avoid costly shutdowns or delays, and maintain schedule accountability; Boldt continues to use Touchplan across additional projects on the Children’s Wisconsin campus. Touchplan — the preferred construction planning software for healthcare used on over 550 hospital projects — enabled clearer communication, faster coordination, and improved on-site control.
