Case Study: McConnell Dowell achieves reduced disruptions and early completion of level crossing removals with Touchplan

McConnell Dowell, serving as the principal construction partner in the Western Program Alliance for Victoria’s Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP), needed to plan tightly sequenced rail occupations and coordinate large, disruptive works across multiple sites while minimizing community impacts. To support occupation-level planning, re-sequencing during unexpected changes (including COVID-related adjustments), and real-time team coordination, the alliance adopted Touchplan’s planning and collaboration platform.

Using Touchplan, McConnell Dowell streamlined communication and sequencing, enabling clearer team alignment, quicker incorporation of additional scope, and reduced disruptions and delays; Touchplan is now used on 11 level crossing projects. The platform helped the team achieve better collaboration and early completion on jobs despite extra work, delivering measurable improvements in schedule adherence and community impact for the LXRP program.
