Case Study: Layton Construction achieves seamless remote coordination and reduced project risk with Touchplan

A Touchplan Case Study

Enhancing Medical Construction Planning via Touchplan

Layton, a nationally recognized construction firm, needed to digitize its pull planning and lean processes while delivering a $46 million, 100,000 SF hospital expansion. The team adopted Touchplan construction planning software (as part of the Last Planner Process) to move from sticky boards to a digital workflow—an especially urgent change when COVID-19 restrictions halted in-person meetings.

Touchplan enabled remote, real-time pull planning so trades could coordinate, update schedules daily, and surface problems early, reducing project risk and keeping work on track (one phased project was on schedule to finish phase one by June). Touchplan also simplified reporting to ownership—replacing manual spreadsheets and photos—resulting in better coordination with trades, earlier issue identification, and more efficient communication across Layton’s teams.
