Case Study: Wheeler School launches an online alumni community and boosts reunion engagement with ToucanTech

The Wheeler School hosts a double homecoming to welcome back alumni

The Wheeler School, an independent school in Rhode Island with an alumni network spanning more than 100 years, needed a better way to reconnect with alumni around the world and encourage greater engagement ahead of reunion weekend. Working with ToucanTech, they launched a new online alumni community to bring together alumni who were living globally or out of state and to support communications, event promotion, and networking.

ToucanTech provided The Wheeler School with a branded alumni platform, including an integrated CRM, email engine, and database, plus training and support for data migration. The new community, called The Wheel, went live in May 2021 and attracted 200 members after just one email to the alumni records, with quarterly newsletters helping drive further sign-ups and engagement. The platform also supported reunion registrations and fundraising for class gifts, helping the school build momentum for future events and alumni giving.
