IDS achieves 7,000 monthly alumni news readership in lockdown

The Institute of Development Studies (IDS), a higher education and international development institution partnered with the University of Sussex, needed a way to keep its globally dispersed alumni community engaged, share news and opportunities, and support fundraising and mentoring. To manage this, IDS used ToucanTech’s alumni community platform to create an online home for alumni and current students.

With ToucanTech, IDS sent newsletters, tracked alumni activity, published news and forms, and ran digital engagement initiatives such as virtual coffees and postcards during COVID-19. The platform helped IDS grow to more than 1,300 online members, host 80 events, and achieve 7,000 monthly views on its alumni news, while also supporting fundraising efforts that raised over £300,000 for its scholarship fund.
