WSFT Leads the Way in Specialised Clinical Services and Education for Children and Families in Suffolk

West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (WSFT) needed a better way to deliver specialist education to school staff supporting children and families with complex health needs in Suffolk. Its face-to-face training model was no longer sustainable because of growing NHS demand, scheduling difficulties, and the need to reduce administrative burden, so WSFT turned to Totara to create a more accessible digital learning approach.

Using Totara, WSFT implemented a bespoke self-registration setup with a custom login page, dedicated tenant, pre-approved school dropdown, and email-domain controls, then built an interactive course with quizzes, feedback, animations, videos, and certificates. Totara helped WSFT deliver the solution in about 3 months, save £10,000 in the first year, free up 7 weeks of specialist clinician time, and engage 244 school staff across Suffolk, while clearing a waiting list and generating 10 further course requests.
