Waterleiding Maatschappij Limburg Safeguards Knowledge for Future Employees with Totara Learn

Waterleiding Maatschappij Limburg (WML) supplies drinking water to over 500,000 households in Limburg, Netherlands, and faced a pressing skills‑transfer challenge as an aging workforce (average age 50+) risked taking vital institutional knowledge with them. To attract and develop younger staff and preserve expertise, WML set out to create a central WML Academy and needed a robust, user‑friendly learning platform that would work across devices and fit their size and budget.

WML implemented Totara Learn with support from The Courseware Company, launching the WML Academy with internal e‑learning, purchased courses (GoodHabitz), SSO access and SharePoint integration for documentation. The year‑long rollout delivered anywhere/anytime access, a branded, engaging user experience, a blended onboarding program to meet ISO requirements and positive uptake across generations — safeguarding knowledge, improving compliance and creating a foundation for ongoing blended and peer learning initiatives.
