VRT Gives Employees, Freelancers And Temporary Staff Control Over Their Own Learning

VRT, the Flemish public broadcaster, faced a learning challenge: a large training operation where roughly 2,300 employees and 1,000 freelancers often “shopped” for courses without clear objectives. The organisation needed structure, a more user-friendly and visually appealing platform, and a way to guide people to training that would actually meet their development needs rather than ad-hoc enrolment in any available course.

Working with Deloitte, VRT implemented a tailored Totara Learn solution with a branded, engaging front end, self-service resources (videos, blogs, guides), Dutch/English support and closed communities for specialist leadership content. The platform’s soft launch has gone well and the company-wide rollout in October aims to put learning ownership with employees and freelancers; VRT praises the co-creation with Deloitte and plans to expand access further.
